CREATIVITY CENTER ART ACTIVITIES (2 PM-5 PM)

  • Fantastic House Sculptures based on Rachel Feinstein’s The Shack.

Inspired by Rachel Feinstein’s artwork, The Shack, this activity combines storytelling, creativity, and natural material exploration. Families will work together to build a structure that incorporates paper scraps, yarn, fabric pieces and natural materials. Families can answer questions about who lives there and what magical stories unfold there.

  • Nature Zine

Join us and create a Nature Zine at The Annual Picnic in Collins Park. Make a zine to record your observations inspired by plants, textures, and patterns around the park. Use drawing and storytelling techniques to make your own nature diary. Drop in and let your creativity bloom in this hands-on, eco-inspired art experience!

  • Annual Teen Art Exhibition

The Annual Teen Art Exhibition, on view in the Creativity Center, showcases artwork created by talented teen artists. Winners of the exhibition will be announced on the stage during The Bass Annual Picnic. Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate the creativity and achievements of these young artists!

  • The Things Lab’s Art Supplies Swap

Participate in The Things Lab’s “Art Supplies Swap.” Bring all the random things you once collected for a project that never was. . . or leftover materials from previous craft projects. Make your practice more sustainable by trading in those art supplies you no longer need for things that might just inspire your next artwork.

  • Rosa dos Ventos and Call to Opening by artist and educator Robertha Blatt

Artist and educator Robertha Blatt presents two participatory projects that explore the intersection of art, community, and sensory experience. Rosa dos Ventos is a large circular loom created through finger knitting, inviting participants of all skill levels to engage in a meditative and collective weaving process that fosters connection and a poetic space. This process transforms the living sculpture into an embodiment of presence, where each gesture and shared intention resonates with the movements and desires of others. Call to Opening transforms the landscape through a collaborative installation using wool, fabric, and knitted cords, encouraging playful engagement and imaginative co-creation as participants shape sculptures around trees.
