2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join us at 2pm for an in-person or virtual Family Day experience.
Join us for the first Family Day of 2021! Enjoy a day of free art-making for all ages from 2-4 PM in Collins Park.
On-site, based on artwork created by Felix Gonzalez-Torres, we will explore conceptual portraits using materials found in nature. Materials will be available at the museum.
For our virtual project, we will look at different types of portraits and demonstrate how to draw a self-portrait. An instructional step-by-step video will be posted on January 31 to this event page.
A free, monthly IDEAS program created to engage families with children of all ages in activities that encourage conversation, exploration and experimentation through art. Activities include an in-person art-making Design Challenge in Collins Park with art materials provided to participants and an Art Hunt for all ages accessible by phone.
In addition, at-home activities include a virtual family tour of the current exhibitions on view, an Art Hunt to investigate our virtual galleries and an art making video using materials found at home. Participants are encouraged to display their piece on Instagram tagging the @thebasscreativitycenter!
In honoring the 25th anniversary of exhibiting artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres’ death, art-making projects and themes for the spring season are drawn from the What Remains exhibition, on view through April 11, 2021.
