An event every week that begins at 9:00am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, repeating until Friday, Aug 16, 2019

Designed for children ages 5-12, Summer Art Camps at The Bass are led by professional museum educators, teaching artists and certified M-DPS art teachers. Campers will make a one-of-a-kind STEAM inspired projects and learn through fun, hands-on art activities in sculpture, painting, design and more. Art Camps run weekly from June 10 to August 16, Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 3:30 PM. There is no camp on Thursday, July 4th.

$250 per week
Members (Dual/Family & above): $200 per week

Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Campers must bring their own lunch and snacks.

Early drop-off and late pick-up are available each day for Art Camp participants! You may drop your child off as early as 8:30 AM with no additional charge, and can pick up as late as 6 PM for an additional charge of $10 per day.

Creative Creatures

From sea life to the forest, discover creatures in habitats from all over the world to create a series of wildlife creatures in all media.

June 17 - 21
Self Portraits

What makes you, YOU? Using images of their favorite things, campers will create a piece of art that celebrate their uniqueness.

June 24 - 28
Under the Sea

Learn about what happens in the depths of the ocean in this exciting week of camp. Campers will explore different types of paint and 2D surfaces to create their own underwater sea atmosphere.

July 1-5 (no camp on July 4)
Art in Nature

Explore the great outdoors to create artwork using natural materials. Campers will learn about what inspires the great land artists of the world.

July 8 - 12
Story Creation

Campers will develop characters, devise a plot and make and bind their very own book.

July 15 - 19
Mixed-Up Media

Drawing, painting, collage and sculpting are just a few of the materials campers will use in this camp week to create a masterpiece using a variety of media.

July 22 - 26
Fantastical Creatures

Get wild with your imagination! Campers will learn about all sorts of critters and creatures, and then will create a 3D creature!

July 29 - August 2
Art Lab: Science & Art

Learn about art making methods through science! Mix, create and explore the magical world of science in this camp session.

August 5 - 9
Sound Sculptures

Sound is everywhere! Campers will learn about artist that combine art and sound. They will create their own sculpture that uses sound by upcycling art material.

August 12 - 16
Puppetry & Storytelling

Using 3D art making, campers will bring drawings of animals to life with recycled paper and materials. Campers will develop their own story accompanying their puppets.

June 10 - 14
Painting Exploration

In this camp session, campers will explore various tips and techniques to apply paint to a unique surface while learning about traditional and exploratory methods of painting.

June 17 - 21
Story Creation: Legends & Myths

Explore the world of dragons, magic and fantasy art and create personalized story characters through sequential art to complete a graphic novel. In this week of camp, campers will draw, ink and create original characters and develop a story using images.

June 24 - 28

Campers will combine drawing and painting to create surreal landscapes their your wildest imagination.

July 1 - 5 (no camp on July 4)
Painting on Unique Surfaces

Using a non-traditional surface, campers will learn painting techniques and how to use a unique texture to create a comprehensive piece.

July 8 - 12
Cultural Expressions

Learn about work created by international artists. Campers will create a piece inspired by their own culture or a culture of their choosing.

July 15 - 19
World of Paper

Campers will explore how to use paper through a variety of projects, from pop-up atmospheres to the ancient art of paper folding.

July 22 - 26
Art Lab: Science & Art

Learn about art making methods through science! Mix, create and explore the magical world of science in this camp session.

July 29 - August 2
Pop-Up Sculptures

2D becomes 3D in this introduction to paper engineering and sculpting. Campers will explore how to use paper through a variety of projects, from pop-ups, paper dioramas, geometric shapes and cut paper landscapes. They will experiment with different techniques while also learning fundamentals about design, color, composition, texture, shape, and narrative.

August 5 - 9
Street Art

Campers will learn about street art from around the world and will develop a largescale painting in the style of underground art.

August 12 - 16

Using their imagination, campers will design, create and even market their own invention.
