Ideal for families with children aged 4 and up, these FREE workshops are part of our Art Cares series and take place on select Saturdays from November 8^th to May 9^th. Guided by an art therapist, these free sessions provide a friendly setting where families can connect and bond through creative projects.

Art Cares | Intuition Sculptures

We will look at the work of Sarah Crowner’s bronze sculptures as inspiration for working with simple, intuitive shapes. We will practice using our feeling senses to squeeze and pinch clay. We will experience the soothing aspect of clay and reference abstract shapes and stones.

Drawing or incorporating diamonds into artwork can be an exercise in building a sense of internal power and resilience. We will reference Vasarely’s Diamond Decal in the Assume Vivid Astro Focus: XI exhibition as inspiration for creating diamond mobiles.

Art Cares | Eco Art Therapy Terrariums

Location: The Bass Creativity Center

Tap into your creativity as you explore new art materials! Enter the season of giving with new artistic skills and mindfulness techniques as you enjoy the Social Assembly exhibition. We will reference Yang’s “in the Cone of Uncertainty Wallpaper”. We will use eco art therapy to create terrariums to address our climate crisis.

Art Cares | Memory Threads

Location: The Bass Creativity Center
Cost: Free

Gather symbols of positive moments in your life in order to attract more positive experiences. Gather memorabilia from your home (tickets, photos) and any scraps of fabric that are special to you (old shirt, doll clothes). Wrap the memories in the scraps of fabric. We will stitch together the bundles and create a hanging memory sculpture.

Art Cares | Small World Sculptures

Location: The Bass Creativity Center
Cost: Free

You will be invited to create your own personal world inside of a terra cotta plate. You will be encouraged to freely press found objects to create your own artistic world based on your passions. Houses, scenery, gardens, and playgrounds are just some of the exciting options.

Art Cares | Art Gardens

Location: The Bass Creativity Center

You will create a personal garden with paint, tissue paper, natural objects, and mixed media. Your garden will reflect your individuality and showcase many different textures. Learn to follow your intuition and create from multiple points of view.
