ART, FASHION & PHILATHROPY AT THE BASS BALL IN MIAMI BEACH
gallery

MIAMI BEACH, FL (January 27, 2023) – On Thursday, January 26, 2023, The Bass Museum of Art hosted art lovers, philanthropists and tastemakers at Miami Beach’s most fashion-forward annual gala, The Bass Ball, honoring Ambassador Paul L. and Mrs. Trudy Cejas.

All proceeds from The Bass Ball benefit The Bass’ Creativity in the Community education and outreach programs. This year, more than $300,000 was raised to provide kids and families with meaningful access to inspiring contemporary art.

The theme–Abstract Expressionism: Beyond the Brushstroke— celebrated the art movement that radically redefined the art world and marked the rise of New York City as a global arts center. The attire at the event reflected the dynamic, colorful and abstract artworks from this era, paying homage to great American artists such as Jackson Pollock (1912-1956), Mark Rothko (1903-1970), Helen Frankenthaler (1928 – 2011) and Barnett Newman (1905-1970). For photos of the best looks from the event, visit the museum’s Facebook page linked here.

The event honored art collectors Ambassador Paul L. and Mrs. Trudy Cejas, in recognition for their longtime support of The Bass and their extensive public and community service to museums and institutions of higher education.

The successful event comes on the heels of The Bass receiving a $20 million allocation from the $159 million Miami Beach Cultural Arts G.O. (General Obligation) Bond measure passed in November 2022. G.O. Bonds funds will support adding a new exhibition wing, allowing The Bass to further expand The Collection with new media and technology centered contemporary artworks.
