THIRD THURSDAYS | THE ROPE PROJECT – FEATURING LISU VEGA AT THE SHOP

Thursday, Oct 17
6:00 pm
- 9:00 pm

Meet artist Lisu Vega as she presents her newest collection, The Rope Project, at The Shop at The Bass.

The Rope Project was born from painterly expressions elevated to the tridimensional space. Using poly-silk rope and her upcycling approach, Vega creates two types of pieces from the original rope material: the rope’s exterior shell transforms into wearable fashion art, while the rope’s interior is used for sculptural weaved pieces.

All pieces, wearable and sculptural, are handmade and have unique, organic forms. The unisex wearable creations are versatile and light, embracing the body and granting feelings of protection and empowerment.

Lisu Vega is a multidisciplinary artist working with engraving, sculpture, installation and fashion. Her work explores ideas of sustainability, migration, memory, and identity. Her commitment to the environment is central to her practice. She explores recycled materials to achieve a zero-waste practice while examining the relevance of traditional processes, such as some ancient techniques passed down through her Wayuu heritage, in the context of contemporary art.
