THIRD THURSDAYS | FEATURING MASISI

6 – 9 PM

Performance times to be announced.
Welcome cocktail compliments of H&C Collective.

Join us for an unforgettable Juneteenth celebration as the Miami collective Masisi takes over assume vivid astro focus: XI at The Bass! This electrifying Third Thursday event celebrates Black freedom, Queer joy, and Caribbean creativity—set within the kaleidoscopic world of assume vivid astro focus’s immersive installation.

Masisi is a Black Queer Afro-Caribbean collective founded by Akia Dorsainvil. Known for genre-defying nightlife events, they also run Masisi Radio and Club Sinema, platforms that amplify diasporic voices through sound, film, and movement.

The evening features a live broadcast of Masisi Radio, screenings from Club Sinema, and high-energy DJ sets that transform the gallery into a full-sensory live experience. Fashion, performance, and the visual language of the Black dandy take center stage, channeling a “Queer Renaissance” that draws from influences ranging from the Harlem Renaissance to today’s ballroom scenes.

Held in the heart of Pride Month and on the occasion of Juneteenth, this celebration honors the enduring legacies of Black freedom and the vibrancy of Queer Caribbean life in Miami—where self-expression becomes resistance, and joy is a form of survival.

Throughout its run at The Bass, assume vivid astro focus: XI will host a series of performances and events with Miami-based queer artists, performers, and creators. Curated by the international art collective assume vivid astro focus (avaf), these programs celebrate the local LGBTQIA+ community, transforming the installation into a stage for DJ sets, screenings, and other activations. With bold performances from diverse voices, the series reflects the boundary-pushing spirit of both the exhibition and avaf.
