STEAM+ ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM BY THE BASS

STEAM+ ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM BY THE BASS

What is STEAM+?

STEAM+ is The Bass Museum of Art’s signature education initiative that integrates the Arts into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math learning. By blending creativity with core subjects, STEAM+ helps students strengthen problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills—while making learning more engaging, fun, and focusing on hands on experiential learning.

Why It Matters

STEAM+ ensures that students—across one of the most diverse counties in the nation—have access to creative learning opportunities that boost academics, build confidence, and spark lifelong curiosity by using art as the connective tissue between disciplines. Parents see their children more excited about school and are themselves connected to the museum community, while funders know their investment supports both educational equity and innovation.

What We Do

  • In-School Residencies – The Bass’s teaching artists lead hands-on projects directly in classrooms.
  • Curriculum Connections – Activities are designed to align with classroom learning, adding a creative and exploratory dimension.
  • Creative Projects – Students experiment with drawing, design, sculpture, and technology, discovering new ways to see and solve problems.
  • Sustainability Initiatives– Students learn the importance of repurposing and reusing materials found in their homes and school community by actively incorporating these materials into their projects.

Who We Serve Through our STEAM Artist-in-Residence Program

STEAM+ reaches 8 Miami-Dade County Public Schools along with select charter and private schools, engaging hundreds of students each year in meaningful, arts-based learning experiences.
