JÉRÉMY GOBÉ | Freedom Leading Wool

Jeremy Gobé’s installation Freedom Leading Wool (titled after Eugene Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People) spans three locations; the BassX Gallery inside the Miami Beach Public Library, the exterior of the public building housing it and the window displays of a pharmacy on the next block. The immersive nature of the single work is comprised of reclaimed wool sourced by the artist from a shuttered factory in France and is processed with a Jacquard loom. Gobé speaks about his process of creation, his travels and how they affect his practice in the studio, his interests in nature and how sculpture fills a space. The exhibition coincided with Gobé’s residency at the Fountainhead in Miami.
