Curator Culture: Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Billy Porter

On Sunday, June 14, 2020 The Bass held a virtual town hall with former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana Pete Buttigieg and award-winning actor Billy Porter. The e-town hall and panel discussion, moderated by writer and activist Tom Healy, pairs the prominent creative and front-line political leader to propose, provoke and debate art, politics, anger, activism – and changing our world.

Over the past two years, the Curator Culture series at The Bass has brought together prominent artists and leading architects, scientists, journalists and influential leaders from many fields for public conversations about fostering creativity in a complicated world. The world has suddenly become much more complicated. We now ask questions such as – How do we respond to the profound economic and cultural disruptions that are unfolding during this global pandemic? What actions are being taken in the dismantling of systemic racism amid protests and outrage over police brutality?

Curator Culture is getting a reboot to engage these questions while The Bass and most cultural institutions must remain closed.
